PAVLOVSK

Pavlovsk Named after Paul I, Pavlovsk was the last of Imperial estates to be built. His mother, Catherine the Great, on the occasion of the birth of the future Czar Alexander I, gave the grounds to Paul in 1777. The horseshoe-shaped Paul's Palace was built from 1782 to 1786 for the family of Grand Duke Paul and renovated after a large fire in 1803 during the reign of his son - Alexander I.

This palace is often called the pearl of the classical style as many famous architects of the time took part in designing its beautiful interiors. At the same time many people say that it has more cozy and romantic atmosphere if compared to its imperial neighbors in Pushkin or Peterhof.

A beautiful landscape park, the largest in Europe, surrounds the palace.

Paul's Palace open 10:00 - 18:00, closed Fridays and the first Monday of the month.
